بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
وَٱلسَّمَآءِ وَٱلطَّارِقِ١
By the sky and the night comer - 1
وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلطَّارِقُ٢
And what can make you know what is the night comer? 2
ٱلنَّجۡمُ ٱلثَّاقِبُ٣
It is the piercing star - 3
إِن كُلُّ نَفۡسٖ لَّمَّا عَلَيۡهَا حَافِظٞ٤
There is no soul but that it has over it a protector. 4
فَلۡيَنظُرِ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ مِمَّ خُلِقَ٥
So let man observe from what he was created. 5
خُلِقَ مِن مَّآءٖ دَافِقٖ٦
He was created from a fluid, ejected, 6
يَخۡرُجُ مِنۢ بَيۡنِ ٱلصُّلۡبِ وَٱلتَّرَآئِبِ٧
Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs. 7
إِنَّهُۥ عَلَىٰ رَجۡعِهِۦ لَقَادِرٞ٨
Indeed, Allah, to return him [to life], is Able. 8
يَوۡمَ تُبۡلَى ٱلسَّرَآئِرُ٩
The Day when secrets will be put on trial, 9
فَمَا لَهُۥ مِن قُوَّةٖ وَلَا نَاصِرٖ١٠
Then man will have no power or any helper. 10
وَٱلسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ ٱلرَّجۡعِ١١
By the sky which returns [rain] 11
وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ ذَاتِ ٱلصَّدۡعِ١٢
And [by] the earth which cracks open, 12
إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوۡلٞ فَصۡلٞ١٣
Indeed, the Qur'an is a decisive statement, 13
وَمَا هُوَ بِٱلۡهَزۡلِ١٤
And it is not amusement. 14
إِنَّهُمۡ يَكِيدُونَ كَيۡدٗا١٥
Indeed, they are planning a plan, 15
وَأَكِيدُ كَيۡدٗا١٦
But I am planning a plan. 16
فَمَهِّلِ ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ أَمۡهِلۡهُمۡ رُوَيۡدَۢا١٧
So allow time for the disbelievers. Leave them awhile. 17
